Whats ADSB.fi?

adsb.fi is a community driven effort to provide unfiltered air-traffic information. It is being built and operated by the same volunteers that built adsbexchange.com, which was then sold, against the best interest of those volunteers and the community, to a hedgefund in early 2023.

The team behind adsb.fi graciously provide data for free to Search and Resuce organisations and Emergency Service Providers as well as certain projects such as PlaneTrackr itself.

Why is a username/key required?

The adsb-data is valuable, especially to commercial and financial entites. To prevent missuse of the data from adsb.fi, it is important that it does not get stolen. External programs, such as PlaneTrackr unfortunately are a target for such data theft and implementing a program key that can’t be easily decrypted is a huge task.

Therfore, PlaneTrackr requires a username and key to access adsb.fi-data for now.

The username and key is provided by me (JN-Husch) and not the adsb.fi-team.

How to get a key?

To get a key please contact me on Discord (xxJohnxx#3054) or via the contact form. Do not ask the adsb.fi-team for keys!

Keys will be handed out on a thrust-basis, and at the moment, only to people that actively feed adsb.fi. Key requests might be denied without any explenation.

Key usage is monitored and any abuse can cause a key to be revoked without any prior warning.
